Before watching the below video and reading an article on how the FBI taps cell phone mic as eavesdropping tool I would have assumed that when I turn my phone off it would be disconnected from the cell phone network.
Even after watching the video and reading the article I am skeptical that a cell phone could actually be used as an eavesdropping tool when it is powered off. One of the reason is the source of this information is a judge. Would you go to a judge when you have cell phone issues? Could he have meant that it is legal to use the cell phone as an eavesdropping tool, rather than saying that it is technically possible?
I don’t know if this is fact or fiction, but in any case I will not be removing my cell phone battery any time soon. The FBI would be wasting their time listening in on me.
