Have you noticed all the press about the recent firing of eight U.S. attorneys? The press is making it seem like the firings are some sort of scandal and politically motivated. Sure, it does seem like they were political, however, this is nothing new. Previous administrations have fired even larger numbers in the past, such as the 93 fired by President Clinton’s administration. Administrations from both parties have done this in the past, so I’m wondering, “What is the big deal this time?” The firings are legal because “Each United States attorney is subject to removal by the President.” Again, why this is this such a big story? Why are our representatives calling for the Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign? Seems to me that there are more important issues to focus on…
